Kirkcudbright is sited in the estuary of the River Dee and is also well known in Dumfries and Galloway as being “The Artists’ Town” due to generations of artists and craftspeople living here. This title could also be due to the pretty pastel coloured town houses in the centre of the town.

Throughout the year, Kirkcudbright hosts a variety of entertainment including car rallies, a jazz festival and the infamous Kirkcudbright Tattoo. If you are a keen sailor, then the town’s marina welcomes you, offering one of the safest anchorages on the Solway coast.
