Dumfries is the region’s largest town and a busy commercial centre of Dumfries and Galloway with many businesses and shops in the town. Other attractions include Caerlaverock Castle which is said to be one of the most interesting and attractive castles in Scotland, and also nearby is the beautiful Sweetheart Abbey.

Dumfries is also well known for its connection to the poet Robert Burns. A major attraction near to the town is Ellisland Farm where Burns wrote many of his poems and songs, his statue stands in the centre of the town and you can even have a drink in what was his favourite public house - The Globe Inn.
