Grading Contact details The gardens contain areas of European SSSI and are a haven for wildlife, including the adjacent RSPB Nature Reserve with the Red Kite Trail. A beautiful traditional cottage with two wood-burning stoves. The cottage also has electric storage heaters, making it very cosy, whatever the time of year. As well as easy access to the Solway coast, Loch Ken is South West Scotland’s centre for outdoor activities, with horse riding, golfing, sailing, and water-skiing nearby. Loch Ken is renowned for its fishing - this together with swimming can be enjoyed from the floating jetties at the bottom of the garden. A swinging mooring and private launching are also available. Sitting Room This large airy room with ClearView wood burning stove, is equipped with quality B&O TV, Video & DVD and B&B music centre - for cosy evenings in, with views of the gardens and loch beyond. Dining Room Tastefully furnished, with woodburning stove and vibrant modern colours. The oak-beamed ceiling adds old-world character. Behind the stairs winding from the dining room, you will find a hint of the cottages` past - the hidden safe where the ferrymaster kept his day’s takings. Bedrooms 1 & 2 Full of Scottish charm, the light and airy comfortable bedrooms are tastefully furnished with traditional hand-waxed furniture. Wake up to a view of the loch water sparkling in the early morning sunshine. Kitchen Whether you’re preparing a light snack or a Scottish feast, the traditional oak kitchen is fully equipped and laid out to make your work easier. With wonderful panoramic views over the garden and loch to the Nature Reserve beyond - if you’re looking out at dusk you may catch a glimpse of a barn owl.
